Daniel Shays: Daniel Shays was born with a rare gift for finding loopholes and sniffing out hidden opportunities. He could have been a lawyer or a politician, but that sounded like a lot of, you know, work. Instead, he decided to reach for the stars–more or less literally–and made it his goal in life to own his own cargo ship, hire somebody to run it for him, and live a life of ease and comfort on the profits. He saves on rent by living in a converted cargo hold, and ever since he found a way to have himself declared a sovereign planet, he doesn’t even pay taxes.
Cicada: Daniel’s personal bodyguard. His “common law bodyguard”, if you catch our drift. As such, she’s especially interested in guarding his body from other female crew members.
Lilliana Cortana Corsair: Lilliana hails from a family of what are commonly termed “space gypsies.” She was born on a ship, grew up on a ship, and was well into her adolescence before she ever set eyes–much less feet–on a planet. Her experience growing up among independent traders gave her a shrewd business sense and excellent people skills, both of which she uses to full effect managing the day-to-day operations of the Rebellion. Her official position is that of the ship’s Communicator.
Dick Unger: Hands-down the most professional member of the crew, Dick is a consumnate pilot. He graduated top of his class from flight school and attained the rank of captain in the navy of the Galactic Confederated Commonwealth, but a flaw in his second-hand genetic upgrades eventually forced him out. Piloting a ship as… unconventionally crewed… as the Rebellion probably wouldn’t have been his first choice, even barring military service, but it must be assumed that he has his reasons.
Leo Parda: Leo is a cat-like humanoid in charge of the ship’s towering cargo hold. The job his perfectly suited to him, with his cat-like agility and climbing abilities come in handy, his sixth sense for sniffing out potential danger, and his preference for sleeping whenever possible. He has a slightly snarky attitude, but that’s just a mask to hide his pain. Really.
Designate Regan Bard: Regan’s got an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, like blowing things up. This is often in direct conflict with her duties as the ship’s Mechanic, a position more concerned with keeping things from blowing up, but somehow she manages to find an acceptable work/life balance. Due to Regan’s rather strained relationship with reality, all that can really be verified about Regan’s life prior to joining the Rebellion is that she’s from the Celtic revival planet of Nova Hibernia.
Galatea Adams: Galatea ran away from the Galactic Confederated Commonwealth at the tender age of thirty-two… meaning she’s still considered a child by that “progressive” society… in order to avoid mandatory Antisocial Personality Trait Correction. Although in her case, it might be argued that the problem is she’s a little too sociable. Though inexperienced in the ways of the wide world, she possesses the best genes her parents’ money could buy and a mostly-completed secondary education that rivals the formal schooling of most non-GCC university graduates.
The Nick Bradleys: The Nicks are a “clone lifer”. While the ethics of non-therapeutic cloning are still hotly debated, the laws in many locales are lax enough to allow so-called “recreational cloning” to take place. While individuals in the cloning community are often stereotyped as being depressed or suffering from social anxiety, the Nicks are a pretty ordinary guy, if you can ignore the fact that there’s three of him. Though, admittedly, he is hell on grammar. The Nicks are a member of the rank-and-file crew, performing duties as needed.
HC000311417B: A genetically engineered parahuman and the former asset of a now-liquidated deep space mining concern, HC000311417B has a second pair of arms in place of her legs, leading Regan to nickname her “Handjob.” The rest of the crew reluctantly seized on this as a much easier alternative to her given name, though it quickly became shortened to the more familiar “Handy.” Unsuited for shifting cargo or any other sort of heavy lifting, she usually ends up assisting Regan in maintenance and repair work, as her body is ideally suited for climbing around in maintenance shafts and air ducts.
…And The Rest.
